Stetson Broce Highlights Seven Lions On All-MIAA Squad

Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior punter Stetson Broce highlights a list of seven Lions that made All-MIAA status today as the league announced its end of year honors.

Broce, a 6-3 senior from Pretty Prairie, Kan., is a third-team selection this year after leading the MIAA in punts inside the 20 with 21 total. Broce had 65 punts this year for 2,502 yards with six of 50 or more yards, 14 fair caught and including a long of 64. It is Broce's first All-MIAA honor.

Leading a group of six Lions to earn All-MIAA honors was senior wide receiver Scott Lathrop. Lathrop was second in the MIAA this year with 66 receptions. He finished the season with 491 yards and an average of 7.4 per catch.

Senior Jordan Morrison was tenth in the MIAA in receptions with 47, while ranking 11th in yards with 707. He had two touchdowns with an average of 15 yards per catch.

Freshman receiver Josiah Bennett finished the year with 20 receptions and 470 yards for an average of 23.5 yards per catch. That mark ranked eighth nationally and third in the MIAA. It also was just a half a yard shy of tying the single-season MSSU record for yards per catch held by Rod Smith.

Also earning honorable mention All-MIAA status was senior center Mitch Moore. Moore started in eight of nine games played this year for the Lions serving as the anchor of the offensive line.

Senior defensive backs Ricky Green and Chris Goss III both earned All-MIAA status. Green earns his second All-MIAA honors as he was an honorable mention pick last year. Green had 41 tackles, including a sack and a team-high four interceptions on the year. He finished with ten pass break ups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

Goss was third on the team with 63 tackles, 1.5 for a loss and five pass break ups.

The MIAA Offensive Player of the Year was Northwest Missouri's Kyle Zimmerman, while the Bearcats' Adam Dorrel was named the Coach of the Year. Fort Hays State's Sie Doe Jr. was the Defensive Player of the Year, while Central Missouri's Jaylen Zachery was the Special Teams Player of the Year. Pittsburg State's Brenner Clemons was the Freshman of the Year.
