Sydney Dose pulled down nine kills and hit .368 with seven digs and a block, but the Missouri Southern volleyball team fell three sets to none tonight at fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney. Individual set scores were 16-25, 12-25 and 11-25.
The Lions (4-21, 1-11 MIAA) were led by Dose's night as she pulled in 9.5 points.
Alicia Pickett and
Christina Perlinger had three kills each, while
Bailey Rexford had two.
Whitney Harrison dished out 15 assists, while
Kat Gries had a team-high 13 digs. Harrison had eight digs, while
Monica White and
Mikayla Monk had four and three blocks, respectively.
Kearney (28-1, 13-1 MIAA) was led by ten kills from Allison Kuenle and 24 assists from Lindsey Smith.
Set one saw five tied scores, and four lead changes. Both teams traded points before the Lopers took a 9-8 lead midway through. UNK would finish the set on a 16-8 run.
In the second set, Southern jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but UNK went on a 12-1 run to open up a 12-4 lead en route to the second set win.
In the third set, both teams traded points early on, but the Lopers would lead 13-6 midway and go on to take the set and match.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as Southern plays at Fort Hays State. First serve from Gross Memorial Coliseum is set for 1 pm.
