Lions pick up a pair of provisionals at Saint Louis

St. Louis, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team sent a group of throwers to the SLU Billiken Kickoff hosted by Saint Louis University. 

Southern picked up a pair of provisionals and event wins in two events. In the discus, Nicklas Polizzi won the event as the Lions took three of the top four spots. He threw a provisional and facility record of 165-07, while Bryan Burns was second (157-01) and Tyler Hovey placed fourth (155-02). 

In the Javelin, Derek Webb won the event with a provisional distance of 191-09, while Zach Williams placed second with a distance of 183-07. 

The Lions will officially open the outdoor season next week, traveling to Pittsburg for the PSU Wendy's Invite.
