Denton, Texas - The Missouri Southern softball
team dropped a pair of games tonight at Texas Womans University,
falling to the Pioneers, 9-3 and 6-2.
Southern (3-9) was down 5-2 after the third inning of game one,
but a pair of runs in each of the next two innings for TWU put the
game away.
The Lions picked up a pair of runs in the third in game one as a
pair of errors and a double from Jessica Brooks led to runs from
both Kelli Bax and Brooks.
Angie Turner added a solo home run in the fifth adding to her
school record total of 20 career home runs now.
In game two, Southern took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the
sixth inning before TWU (10-6) scored five runs in their half of
the inning to take the win.
The Lions scored runs on an RBI from Dawn Grass and a wild pitch
that scored Brooke Hurley. Krista Bomak went 2-4, while Kelli Bax,
Hurley and Natalie Nelson had a hit each.
The Lions will be back at it tomorrow after noon when they take
on the Pioneers in another double-header beginning at 2:30
pm.
