Prior to Southern – Chris lettered in cross country and track and field at Derby High School in Derby KS. He was the AVCTL district pole vault champion in 2014 and 2015. Set the AVCTL record in 2015 with a vault of 15’1”. Regional runner-up in 2014, he took first in regionals in 2015. Earned 4^th in the Kansas AA state championships in 2014, placing 3^rd in 2015. Set his high school’s record with a 15’1” pole vault.
Personal – Christian majors in psychology at Southern. He’s the son of Carl and Sucanne Compton.
