In 2009 - played in 21 matches, starting the last five at setter after Elin Ekei suffered a broken nose on Nov. 3 against the Washburn Lady Blues...had a season-high seven kills and hit .438 against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 13 also recorded season-high 46 assists against Pittsburg State on Nov. 11...for the season Merrick recorded 26 kills hitting .286 and 224 assists while serving .928 with 14 blocks and 36 points.
In High School:  Merrick is from Willard, Mo. where she prepped at Willard High School ... A three year starter, Merrick played for coach Jamalee Hancock where she was a first team All-Conference, All-District and All-Region selection her senior year after being an honorable mention All-Region and second team All-District selection her junior season ... Also an athlete in track and basketball at Willard, Merrick holds the school record in the high jump.
