VanDeren and Williams Sweep MIAA Field Athlete of the Week Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Southern student-athletes Jamale Williams and Dailynn VanDeren were named the MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) Men's and Women's Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Dailynn VanDeren set the Missouri Southern shot put record with a career-best mark of 16.88m (55-4.75) for first overall at Arkansas' Division I John McDonnell Invitational.

She improved on her MSSU program record of 16.72m (54-10.25) set on April 19.

VanDeren ranks first in NCAA Division II for shot put in 2026. She has won six titles during the 2026 outdoor season. 

The weekly MIAA honor is the fourth of VanDeren's collegiate career after she previously picked up the weekly award on April 7, 2026.
 
Jamale Williams
Jamale Williams swept the shot put and discus titles at Arkansas' Division I John McDonnell Invitational. He captured first in shot put with a season-best 18.45m (60-6.5) and was also first in discus with 58.51m (191-11). Both marks are NCAA Qualifying marks.

Williams ranks first in NCAA Division II for discus and fourth for shot put in 2026.

Williams has now won three titles during the 2026 outdoor season. 

The weekly MIAA honor is the third of Williams' collegiate career after he previously picked up the weekly award April 21, 2026.
