JOPLIN, Mo. – Kristen Hermann was named Missouri Southern's Head Spirit Squad Coach, Director of Athletics Rob Mallory announced Wednesday. In this role, Hermann will be in charge of both the Lions' cheer and dance programs. 

She comes to MSSU after spending the previous 13 years as the head cheer coach at Joplin High School. She also taught biology at Joplin HS for five years.

Hermann, a Joplin, Missouri, native, graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2015 with her bachelor's in elementary education. She went on to receive her master's degree in secondary education in 2021.

Kristen and her husband, Steve, have three children.
