USTFCCCA Names Brian Allen Central Region Outdoor Men's Assistant Coach Of The Year

06.04.24

New Orleans, La. - The USTFCCCA announced the Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year on June 3. For the second straight year, Missouri Southern's Brian Allen was announced as the USTFCCCA Central Region Outdoor Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. Allen received the same honor last season, and was named the USTFCCCA Central Region Outdoor Women's Assistant Coach of the Year in both 2021 and 2019.

Allen helped coach the men's team to a program record 4th place finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Of the team's 42 points at the meet, 36 of those points came from MSSU throwers. Peyton Barton was a National Champion in the hammer throw, and Cedric Pearson, Gabe Ford, and Brendan Rozier also earned All-American honors.

This season, Southern's throwers on the men's side combined for 56 points at the MIAA Outdoor Championships with a title in hammer throw, five All-MIAA honors, and eight top-five finishes. Among program ranks, the hammer throw record was broken this season along with seven top-10 overall marks being accomplished. Allen upped his outdoor National Champion count to five as Peyton Barton won the hammer throw this year and the discus last season, with previous champions being Rajindra Campbell in the discus and shot put in 2021, and Bryan Burns in the discus in 2018.
