Mayetta, Kan. - The MSSU Men's Golf team wrapped up day two at the Firekeeper Open after competing in three rounds at the Firekeeper Golf Course, which is a 7,030 yard course from the championship tees with a par of 72. After day one the Lions were third with a total score of 570, but the men had a great day two and finished with the second best score of the day (-9) to jump into a second place finish with a total score of 849.
Competing in his first team event of the year,
Dylan Bagley had a fantastic three rounds. Bagley finished tied for fourth individually after an impressive three under round one, which was followed by a combined one under over the next two rounds, as he shot a 212 total score.Â
Tradgon McCrae had his fifth top five finish of the year with a 212 total score after shooting five under on the final two rounds to tie with Bagley and one other for fourth place.
Josh Hamnett and
Luis Limón combined for 21 birdies in the event as both individuals shot a total score of 213 that placed them both tied for seventh with five other competitors.Â
Ben Marckmann rounded out the team play for the Lions as he shot a 224 over the three rounds to tie for 46th individually at the Open.
Alexander Page traveled to Kansas as well to compete as an individual to where he shot a 225 total score which placed him tied for 48th of the 88 total competitors.
The Lions finished only four strokes back of the leader as they led the Open in pars with 173 and third in birdies with 53.
The Men will be back in action next week as they travel to Kansas City, Missouri to compete in the MIAA Men's Conference Championship on April 15-17 at Shoal Creek Golf Club.
