Lions Wrap Up Their Final Road Trip Of The Regular Season In Maryville

Maryville, Mo. - Missouri Southern competed in their final regular season doubleheader on the road against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri. Two defensive battles ended in close victories for the Bearcats over the Lions. The Lions advance to 30-19 (10-12 MIAA) on the season.

Missouri Southern vs. Northwest Missouri - Game One
L, 3-1

Neither team was able to reach home until the Bearcats jumped on the board first in the second inning with a three-run homerun to take an early lead. The Lions defense held the Bearcats to only two players getting on base over the rest of the game. The Lions had their shot at a late comeback, scoring a run of an RBI single from Carsen Tinkler that drove in Hannah Duin, who doubled prior, but could not score another as the Bearcats took game one, 3-1.

Missouri Southern vs. Missouri Western - Game Two
L, 2-1

The Bearcats struck first again in game two with two runs in the second inning. The Lions quickly turned around and scored off a sacrifice from Kara Amos that drove in Kylee Jacks to narrow the Bearcats lead to 2-1. The Lions were able to fill the bases in the fourth of two walks and a Abby DeSanto single, but ultimately could not score. Again, the Lions defense did their part by only allowing one more Bearcat to get on base, but could not return with the tying run as the Bearcats took game two, 2-1.
