Lions Travel to Oklahoma for Back-To-Back Conference Doubleheaders

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Softball team (23-8, 3-1 MIAA) is set to travel to Oklahoma to compete in back-to-back conference doubleheaders against #3 Rogers State on Friday, March 22, and Northeastern State on Saturday, March 23.

Scouting the Lions
The Missouri Southern softball program is off to a 23-8 (3-1 MIAA) start to their season. Previously, the Lions hosted the Teri Mathis-Zenner MIAA/NSIC Crossover Tournament where they went 4-2 with a 1-1 split series with Augustana (SD), a 2-0 sweep over Winona State, a win over St. Cloud State and a loss to Concordia-St. Paul.

Taylor Nuckolls leads the Lions in batting average with a .432, RBIs with 31 and hits with 32. The Lions run leader is Kylee Jacks with 31. In the circle, Kiki Pickens has thrown the most innings with 77.0 and has a 2.00 ERA and has 68 strikeouts.

Scouting the Hillcats 
The #3 Hillcats of Rogers State have had a 22-4 (6-0 MIAA) start to their season. Currently, the Hillcats are on a 12 game win streak with most recent series sweeps over Emporia State and Washburn on the road after defeating Northeastern State at home. 

Paxton Donaldson leads the Hillcats in batting average with a .355. Donaldson is also tied for the Hillcats current hit leader with 22 hits. Callie Yellin leads the Hillcats in runs with 21 and RBIs with 18. In the circle, Sara Llamas-Howell has thrown the most innings with 75.1 and has a 1.55 ERA and has 76 strikeouts.

Scouting the Riverhawks
The Riverhawks of Northeastern State are off to a 5-18 (0-6 MIAA) start to their season. Currently, the Riverhawks are on a six game losing streak after being swept in three straight conference series against Washburn, Emporia State and Rogers State.

Addy Wolfe leads the Riverhawks in batting average with a .298. Emily Sampson is the Riverhawks current hit and RBI leader with 18 hits and 14 RBIs. In the circle, Madison Heinle has thrown the most innings with 73.2 and has a 4.09 ERA and has 43 strikeouts.
