Maryville, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams were in Maryville, Missouri this Friday and Saturday, competing in the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State University. A pair of school records were set, JaDarius Pigg in the 60m Hurdles and Peyton Barton in the Weight Throw. Additionally, the team had 8 first place finishes. 

The teams will compete next at the Ninth Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State. That meet will be held on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10.    

60m Hurdles

• JaDarius Pigg took 1st place in the event, running a school-record of 7.91sec. That time is also an NCAA qualifying mark and ranks 5th in all of NCAA DII this season. Malachi Pipkin placed 5th with a time of 8.32sec. 
• Ashyiria Savage won the event, recording a time of 8.69sec which is an NCAA qualifying mark. 

200m Dash

• Malachi Pipkin set his personal best and jumped up to 6th on the MSSU top-10 indoor list, running a time of 21.97 which was good for 8th place on Friday. Matthew Haddock took 20th place with a time of 22.54, and Kyzer Gann-Vega ran a time of 22.88 for 32nd place. 
• Chardae Overstreet took 9th in the race, running a time of 25.39. Ashyiria Savage placed 18th with a time of 25.84, and Gabrielle McPherson ran the race in 26.79 for 33rd place. 

400m Dash

• Matthew Haddock took 17th place, running a time of 49.87. Kyzer Gann-Vega finished with a time of 50.37 which was good for 25th. 
• Chardae Overstreet placed 4th in the race, finishing with a time of 57.11.

800m Run

• Miguel Solano ran the race in 1:52.54 which ranks 5th on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. He placed 6th in the event on Saturday. 
• Lindsey Lopes improved her time from last week, finishing with an NCAA qualifying time of 2:12.81. Her mark was good for 4th in the meet and currently ranks 19th in all of NCAA DII. 

Mile Run

• Kaden Cole took 1st in the event, running the race in 4:14.73. 

3,000m Run

• Geordan Patrylak was the first Lion to finish, taking 2nd in the race. His time of 8:28.59 puts him 10th on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. Just behind him was Jaden Deaton in 3rd place, running 8:29.13. Zachary Finley ran a time of 8:45.67 which placed him 6th, and Zaben Barnes took 34th with a time of 9:29.63. 
• Riley Vickrey won the event for the second straight week, improving her personal best once again. At Saturday's meet, Vickrey ran the race in 9:58.33, a full five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Hailey Nelson took 13th place with a time of 10:54.56, and Zoe Nelson ran the race in 10:58.77 for 15th place.

4x400m Relay

• The team consisting of Matthew Haddock, Kyzer Gann-Vega, Miguel Solano, and JaDarius Pigg placed 3rd at the meet, recording a time of 3:19.24. That time ranks 5th on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. 

High Jump

• Luke Brumit placed 2nd after clearing an NCAA qualifying mark of 2.03m. That ties his best during the indoor season. 
• Claire Cole and Rylee Darnell tied for 15th place, both clearing the 1.46m mark. 

Long Jump

• Gabrielle McPherson placed 4th with a jump of 5.35m. Lillian Hart jumped 4.88m for 18th place, and Sidney Batten jumped 4.78m to place 25th. 

Pole Vault

• Bastien Franck and Travis Greenfield took the top two spots in the event, going 1st and 2nd. Franck cleared 4.97m and Greenfield jumped 4.82m, both NCAA qualifying marks. 
• The Lions claimed the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes. Holly Robinson was the victor, clearing and NCAA qualifying mark of 3.72m. Abby Hobbs also cleared 3.72m, but she did it on her second attempt, earning her 2nd place. Emma Hobbs placed third after jumping 3.27m, and Alyssa Jerome jumped 3.12m for 4th place.

Shot Put

• Cedric Pearson won the event with an NCAA qualifying mark of 18.40m. That throw is his personal best, ranks 4th in MSSU top-10 indoor history, and currently ranks 3rd this season in NCAA DII. 
• Briar Gillum took 2nd at the meet, tossing an NCAA qualifying mark of 14.01m. Kirsten Womack placed 5th with a throw of 12.94m, and Mona Keita threw a distance of 12.54m which put her at 11th.

Triple Jump

• Lillian Hart placed 5th with a jump of 10.62m. 

Weight Throw

• For the second straight week, Peyton Barton shattered his record. His NCAA qualifying toss of 22.62m was good for 1st place and a facility/meet record as well. Gabe Ford placed 6th in the event with a throw of 16.92m. 
• Mallory Huber, Briar Gillum, and Kirsten Womack went back-to-back-to-back in the event, claiming 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. All three marks were of the NCAA qualifying level, with Huber's at 17.64m, Gillum's at 17.44m (8th on MSSU top-10 indoor list), and Womack's at 17.36m (9th on MSSU top-10 indoor list).
