Scouting the Lions
The Missouri Southern softball program is off to a 11-4 start to their season. Previously, the Lions competed in the Raising Cane's Festival where they went 3-2 with wins over Southern Nazarene, 10-6, Ouachita Baptist, 6-3, and Southwestern Oklahoma State, 5-2, but took half of their season's losses to Arkansas Tech, 4-0, and Southeastern Oklahoma State, 10-6.
Katie Gray leads the Lions in batting average with a .393. The Lions hit leader is
Emily Perry who has 15 hits for the Lions, three of which are home runs and six doubles. On the mound,
Kiki Pickens has thrown the most innings with 39.0 and has a 2.51 ERA and has 49 strikeouts.
Scouting the Lady Statesmen
The Lady Statesmen of Delta State University have had a 2-9 start their season. Previously, the Lady Statesmen hosted back-to-back doubleheaders against Arkansas-Monticello where they won the last of four games, 8-0, but lost the first three. Previous to the Blossoms, the Lady Statesmen lost both games of a doubleheader at Henderson State.Â
Raegan Stafford leads the Lady Statesmen in batting average with a .424. Stafford is the Lady Statesmen current hit leader with 14 hits and run leader with eight. On the mound, Morgan Gubb has thrown the most innings with 26.0 and has a 5.65 ERA. Emma Enderud leads the Lady Statesmen in strikeouts with 18.
