Lions Announce Signing Of Division I Guard

Joplin, Mo. – Missouri Southern women's basketball coach Ronnie Ressel has announced the signing of Division I guard Maggie Sockey for the upcoming season.
 
"We are excited to have Maggie join the Lion Family." said Ressel "She is a high character young lady that will be able to come in and help right away with her ability to see the floor very well and can get to the basket and finish."
 
Sockey a 5-8 guard from Red Oak, Okla. played her freshman season at Oral Roberts where she appeared in 10 games for the Golden Eagles in 2022-23. Scored a season-high four points in 10 minutes against Central Christian College while grabbing three rebounds and collecting two steals.
 
A prep standout at Crowder High School in McAlester, Okla., Sockey averaged 22.3 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game as a senior. In her prep career she scored over 1,700 points while being named first-team All-Conference and All-Area three times, All-State by OGBCA and OCA and to the VYPE top-100 players list three times while being a finalist for the Miss Oklahoma Basketball.
 
Maggie is the daughter of Tracey and Ronnie Sockey and plans to major in nursing during her time at Southern.
