Track And Field To Compete At Arkansas Qualifier

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track and field programs will be in Fayetteville, Ark. to part in the Arkansas Qualifier hosted by the University of Arkansas beginning tomorrow. The meet will have the field events start at 12:30pm and track events beginning at 2:25pm.

This season the men's program has 15 individuals and one relaty team with an NCAA Qualifying mark this season and after competing in six meets are ranked sixth in Division II according to the USTFCCA National Rating Index for Week Four. Ryan Riddle in the 3000m run and mile runs and Peyton Barton in the weight throw have set school records earlier this season, Barton's mark is the best in Division II with Riddle's 3000m time third and mile time fourth best in Division II. Brendan Jewell is sixth in the high jump, Connor Boyd is seventh in the weight throw, the DMR team of Riley Simpson, Johnathan Watts, Gabe McClain and Riddle is 10th, Jordan Garr is 11th for the shot put, Taris Jackson is 17th in the triple jump, Watts is 18th in the long jump, Cedric Pearson is 22nd in the shot put, Peyton McBride is 23rd in the triple jump and Malachi Pipkin is 24th in the 60m hurdles among Division II ranks. 

This season the women's program has 10 individuals and a relay team with an NCAA Qualifying mark after competing in five meets as a team and are ranked 26th in Division II according to the USTFFCA National Rating Index for Week Four. Kiara Smith in the 60m hurdles and Mallory Huber in the weight throw set school records in their respective events and rank second and 10th among Division II ranks. Samariae Bonds is 17th in the weight throw and 19th in the shot put, Chardae Overstreet is 19th in the 400m, the 4x400m relay team of Mya Ferguson, LaNea Wallace, Smith and Overstreet is 23rd, Smith in the 200m dash is 23rd and Holly Robinson in the pole vault is 24th among Division II ranks.

Following this meet in Fayetteville, Ark. the Lions will be taking part in the MIAA Indoor Championships on Feb. 25th & 26th in Pittsburg, Kan. After the MIAA Indoor Championships the last meet of the indoor season will be the Division II Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. from Mar. 10th - Mar. 11th.
