Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program got goals from two seniors today on senior night falling in overtime 3-2 to Northeastern State at Hal Bodon Field.

The RiverHawks (3-2, 3-1 MIAA) got on the board first scoring in the second half as both teams were scoreless at halftime. In the 52nd minute the RiverHawks got lead, almost adding a second a couple minutes later as Riley Laver saved a 1v1 breakaway shot.

Responding in the 65th minute was Southern (4-7, 1-3 MIAA) as senior forward Bailey Belcher scored on a breakaway attack, shooting with her left foot inside the box as the shot slotting home in the far side netting. Northeastern state quickly responded in the 69th minute to reclaim the lead 2-1.

Senior midfielder Carina Calderon in the 83rd minute tied it up as a cross from fellow senior midfielder Meredith Belrose found its way to Calderon who slotted it home after the cross was originally cleared by a RiverHawk defender to Calderon in the box.

A Northeastern State corner resulted in a shot that was saved by Laver before later being scored by the RiverHawks to win 3-2 in the first overtime period.

The Lions had the advantage with 20 shots (eight on goal) compared to Northeastern State having 17 (10 on goal).
