Emporia, Kan. – The Missouri Southern track and field team wrapped up the ESU Relays today and came away with four event wins as the Lions competed inside Welch Stadium.
LaNea Wallace (400m),
Adrain Broadus (triple jump),
Katelyn Mooney (javelin), and
Gidieon Kimutai (1,500m) all won their events today.
Wallace started the action with a win in the 400m as she crossed the line in a time of 57.42.
Chardae Overstreet was second, just three tenths of a second behind Wallace, while
Ashlynn Vanatter placed 21
st.
Broadus picked up a win in the triple jump, leaping to a distance of 14.55m, while Mooney won the javelin with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying distance of 46.60m.
Kimutai was one of three Lions in the top-ten in the 1,500m as he won the event in a time of 3:56.34.
Gabe McClain was third just a second behind, while
JP Rutledge was tenth.
Zachary Finley was 17
th, while
Kevin Koester and
Nathan Painter finished 23
rd and 26
th respectively.
In other action,
Jasmine Deckard was third in the women's 100m, finishing in a time of 11.83.
J'Zaria Cartwright was 14
th and
Ojurere Shonekan placed 26
th.
Precious Olatunji was second in the 100m hurdles while
Malachi Pipkin placed 13
th in the 110m hurdles.
Brieon Randle placed 7
th in the men's 400m, while
Cole Barker was 20
th.
Riley Vickery placed third in the women's 1,500m, while
Janna Hautala was sixth,
Ashlee Kuykendall was 14
th and
Danielle Prince placed 38
th.
Kirsten Leisinger was second in the women's hammer throw with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying distance of 54.73m, while
Alexandra Rodriguez and
Haley Clifton placed 5
th and 15
th.
Josh Fulmer picked up an NCAA Provisional mark of his own placing second in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.44m.
Rajheim Carby finished fifth in the men's javelin with an NCAA Provisional mark of 62.36m, while
Rajindra Campbell finished second in the shot put with an NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark and new school record of 19.09m.
Haley Clifton was seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.08.
Shonekan was eighth in the long jump, while Olatunji placed 12
th. The women's 4x400m relay team of
Claire Luallen, Wallace, Deckard and Overstreet was fourth in a time of 3:59.20.
The Lions will be back in action next Saturday as Southern competes at the Southwest Baptist Invitational.
