Emporia, Kan. – The Missouri Southern track and field team opened up the outdoor season today at Emporia State as the Lions sent a limited number of throwers to compete in the ESU Spring Invite.
The Lions picked up a pair of wins and four top-three finishes.
Kirsten Leisinger picked up a win in the discus with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying distance of 48.31m (158-06).
Alexandra Rodriguez was third in the event at 42.50m.
Leisinger and Rodriguez placed seventh and eighth in the hammer, respectively.
Elizabeth Pomatto picked up a win in the javelin, hitting an NCAA Provisional Qualifying distance of 47.81m (156-10).
In men's action,
Logan Bell was third, while
Brendan Rozier placed seventh in the javelin, as both had NCAA Provisional Qualifying distances. Bell hit a mark of 64.42m (211-04), while Rozier hit a distance of 58.75m (200-03).
Trey Beachler hit a mark of 55.50m for ninth place.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend right back in Emporia as Southern will compete on March 27 at ESU.
