Birmingham, Ala. - The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field programs posted a solid showing that saw the teams pull in seven All-American performances in the final day of the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships ran at the Birmingham Crossplex.
The Southern men finished with 21 points for tenth place overall, while the women had 20 points for ninth place.
Dean Howard started the day for the Lions with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault. He earned his All-American honors with a vault of 5.07m (16-07.50) to secure three points for the men.
Adrain Broadus followed that up with a 7th place finish in the long jump. His All-American leap turned out to be the second jump of his day as he put up a mark of 14.97m (49-01.50) in the event.
Ryan Riddle picked up his second All-American performance of the meet as he nearly picked up a national championship in the mile with a third-third place time of 4:01.21.
Chardae Overstreet turned out another All-American performance as she finished sixth in the 400m dash. She was second in her heat with a time of 56.52 to finish sixth overall.
The final event of the day saw the Lions put three runners in the finals of the 60m hurdles.
Claire Luallen was third in a time of 8.62, while
Precious Olatunji finished fourth at 8.67 and
Cornesia Calhoun-White was seventh at 8.87. The trio gave the Lions 13 points and vaulted the team into the top-ten of the team standings.
In total, the Lions had 14 All-American performances at the meet with 11 individuals earning honors.
