Warrensburg, Mo. – The Missouri Southern soccer program lost to #17 Central Missouri this evening 5-0 at the South Recreation Complex.
The Lions (3-12-2, 2-8-0 MIAA) and Jennies (14-2-1, 8-1-1 MIAA) were scoreless until the Jennies' Leslie Sydney found the back of the net in the 26
th minute off an assist by MIAA leading point earner Kassie Newsom.
Central Missouri grabbed its second goal of the game with 33 seconds remaining in the first half to go into the half up 2-0. For Missouri Southern,
Jori Hays,
Mia Barkyoumb and
Mackenzie Scholtz had a shot and
Riley Laver had five saves.
In the second half Central Missouri added three more goals to reach the 5-0 final score.
Hays,
Lily Spikereit and
Erin Fisher each had two shots in the game with Barkyoumb and Scholtz getting off one shot. Laver finished with six saves and
Laney Graham had two saves as well. The Jennies were led by Newsom with five shots, two shots on goal, and she collected her 11
th assist of the season.
Up next for the Lions will be Northwest Missouri on Sunday from Hal Bodon Field to wrap up the regular season with kickoff set for 2:00 pm.
