Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team was in action today as the Lions competed at the Pittsburg State Invitational, hosted by PSU at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
The Lions brought home three NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the meet.
Travis Petersen started things off with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw, hitting a mark of 61-02.75, while finishing fourth in the event.
Josh Fulmer wsa 12th in the event, while
Trace Henault was 20th.
Rajindra Campbell was 15th in the shot put, hitting a distance of 51-10.50.
DeShaun Williams placed eighth in the high jump invite with a height of 6-06.75, while Mayson York and Mayson Derousse both placed eighth in the pole vault with heights of 14-10.75.
Brendan Watkins was eighth in the triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 48 feet, while
Adrain Broadus was ninth on a judges decision with an NCAA provisional mark of 48 feet, as well. Watkins then placed 16th in the long jump with a distance of 22-03.50.
Ivan Colbert wsa 16th in the 60m hurdles, finishing in a time of 8.52, while
Douglas Depagneux was tenth in the 400m with a time of 48.83.
Tadd Capron was 13th in the mile with a time of 4:15.49, while
Josh Webb was 23rd and
Nathan Painter placed 29th.
The 3k saw
Kevin Koester place eighth in a time of 8:30.08, while
Michael Shanahan was 19th and
Cody Berry placed 20th. Webb was 23rd,
Jared Ozee placed 27th and
Nickson Kiptoo was 39th.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend when Southern plays host to the MSSU Open. Action will start on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
