Joplin, Mo. -- The 4x400m relay team broke a nearly 25-year old record as the men's and women's track and field teams played host to their last chance meet today inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
The relay team of
Rachel Ray,
Destiny Akannam,
Morgan Smith and
Allie Heckemeyer posted a provisional time of 3:47.63, nearly five seconds in front of the previous school record set in 1993.
In other action,
Sara Lin was second in the 400m, while
Christian Provence,
Sierra Wells and
Shelby Werner placed 5-7 in the 1,500m.
Kelsey Evans was second in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:07.76, while
Emily Presley had another win and an NCAA AQ in the pole vault with a height of 14-02.75.
Mylene Loridan posted a provisional height of 12-03.25 to placed third.
Heckemeyer won the triple jump with a provisional leap of 39-07.25, while
Sierra Barrett was fifth.
Desirea Buerge was fourth in the shot, while
Jenson Maydew placed ninth and Buerge posted a win in the discus with a provisional distance of 154-02.
Halee Cashio was sixth in the hammer in a distance of 146-11.
In men's action,
Nickson Kiptoo was fourth in the 1,500m in a time of 4:05.55, while
Luis Suaste,
Victor Encarnacion and
James Tupper placed 6th, 8th and 9th. Encarnacion and Suaste placed 7th and 8th in the 200m.
Tyler Rush was third int he 5k in a time of 15:39.32.
Cody Vogt was second in the high jump with a provisional height of 6-08.75, while
Morgan Hold was third in the pole vault with a provisional height of 16-00.75.

Cortland Potter placed 4th and 5th in the event.
Chance Johnson was fifth in the long jump, while
Brendan Watkins and
Kennan Harrison placed 3rd and 4th in the triple jump.
Bryan Burns won the discus with a provisional distance of 166-01, while Burns and
Junior Joseph placed 3rd and 4th in the hammer, respectively.
The Lions will now wait for final lists to be announced for the 2017 National Championships which will be held on May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla.
