Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern football team found itself down by a touchdown late in the second quarter (17-10), but couldn't get any closer and the Lions fell 37-17 inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium today for Senior Day.
MSSU (0-10, 0-10 MIAA) saw senior running back
Josh Hadley record a season-high 132 yards on 25 carries, including a long run of 32 yards. Quarterback
Brayden Scott complicated 12 of 29 pass attempts for 126 yards and a 13-yard touchdown pass.
Kene Anigbogu caught three passes
Dante Vandeven connected on his lone pass for a touchdown to Scott.
Brock Renken connected on his only field goal attempt from 35 yards.
Defensively, safety
Alexander Wade made 17 total tackles to lead the team, while
Akel Beard added 11 tackles and half tackle for a loss. Linebacker
Roc Robbins had a team-high seven solo tackles (eight total), including two tackles for a loss, one sack, and a pass break up in the process.
LWU (4-6, 4-6 MIAA) got 129 yards and a touchdown from Calen Campbell, while quarterback Najee Jackson rushed for a score and threw for two, going 14-of-27 for 180 yards through the air.
Lindenwood got on the board first with 11:18 left, and the Lions answered back with Renken's field goal.
Two-straight scores from Lindenwood put them up 17-3, before a 13-yard touchdown pass from Scott to Davis to make it 17-10. A late score from Lindenwood put them up 24-10 at the break.
Lindenwood scored twice in the third to go up 37-10, before Southern could answer in the fourth. Scott handed off to Hadley, who pitched to Vandeven as he hit a wide-open Scott in the endzone for the score.
Southern will conclude the 2017 regular season as the Lions travel to take on Pittsburg State in the Miners Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 pm
