Bolivar, Mo. -Â The Missouri Southern Lions used a pair of first half goals from sophomore
Bailey North to jump out to an early and held on for the 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist Tuesday afternoon at the SBU Soccer Field.
North scored her first two goals of the season against the Bearcats the first in the 30th minute off an assist from junior
Taylor Beck and the second came right before halftime as freshman
Brianna Smith played the ball into the box and North scored the goal with the header. Southwest Baptist out shot the Lions 7-6 in the first half but freshman
Luz Galindo saved all three shots she faced to keep the score at 2-0. In the 61st minute, freshman
Tayler LePage played the ball to the right side of the SBU defense for Beck who beat both the SBU defense and the Bearcats' goalie to make the lead 3-0.
SBU out shot the Lions 12-10 but Southern held the 6-3 advantage in shots on goal (SOG) and converted three of the SOGs. North led the Lions offense with three shots, all on goal, and two goals and freshman
Callie Degani recorded two SOGs. Junior
Brooke Ishmael added two shots and sophomore

Hannah Cook added one shot each. Galindo played all 90 minutes in the net for the Lions and recorded her third clean sheet of the season and saved three SBU chances.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Topeka, Kan. to take on the Washburn Ichabods. Kick off from Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl is set for 6 p.m.
