St. Joseph, Mo. -- The No. 21 ranked Missouri Southern baseball team fell 12-2 in seven innings today at Missouri Western.
Southern (15-5, 7-5 MIAA) had a hit each from
Jesse Rall,
Tyler Sutherland,
Brett Graham and
Chris Hoffman. Rall had his tenth home run of the season and fourth of the weekend. Sutherland scored a run while Hoffman drove in one.
Western (15-8, 7-5 MIAA) had a 4-for-4 performance from Jeremy Alvarado with five RBIs.
The Lions went on top in the second with a Hoffman sacrifice fly, scoring Sutherland.
After Western tied the game at one, Rall gave the Lions a 2-1 lead with a home run to left center.
The Griffons, however, scored six runs in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth before getting a run in the bottom of the seventh to force the run-rule and end the game.
The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday evening as Southern plays host to Central Oklahoma in MIAA action. First pitch from Warren Turner Field is slated for 5 pm.
