Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Softball team closed out the 2015 season with a sweep of Lincoln University Monday afternoon at the LU Softball Field.

Game One

Southern got things started in the first inning as Alana Hester led off with an infield single to third base and scored on Brooke Swadley's sacrifice bunt attempt and a throwing error by the Lincoln third baseman. Swadley crossed the plate on Myranda Stewart's double to left center as the Lions took a 2-0 lead after the first half inning.

Southern added another run in the top of the fourth as Sarah Williams led the inning off with a single down the left field line and advanced to second on a single by Abi Corbett. Williams then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sydney Blue to make it 3-0. Lincoln would get that run back in the home half of the inning as they scored on a wild pitch.

The Lions added two more runs in the seventh as Swadley singled down the left field line to score Blue and Hester scored on a throwing error by the Blue Tigers' shortstop for the 5-1 win.

Ashley Lutz got the start for the Lions going the distance allowing just the one unearned run on three hits with two walks and struck out five.

Game Two

Southern got the final game of the season started again in the first inning as Swadley hit her first triple of the season to right field and scored on Stewart's single up the middle.

Lincoln would take the lead on a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth before the Lions would rally in the fifth to take the lead for good. In that inning, Lindsey Gorham led off with a double off the left field wall and would score along with Hester on Swadley's single to center. Williams would have a one out double in the sixth and advance to third on Corbett's infield single then score on Gorham's sac fly to left for a 4-2 lead heading into the seventh.

In the final frame Hester came through with a one out single up the middle and scored on Swadley's single and two throwing errors by the Blue Tigers. Lincoln threatened in the home half pushing across two runs as they took advantage of three hits and two Lions' errors to make it 5-4.
