Hays, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team fell three sets to none tonight at Fort Hays State. Individual set scores were 18-25, 17-25 and 23-25.
The Lions (2-26, 1-16 MIAA) were led offensively by
Abby Finder as the senior dished out 18 assists and added 13 digs.
Callie Whetstone and
Bridgette Jaeger had six kills each, with Whetstone adding five blocks and Jaeger six digs.
Alyx Gepford and Finder had five kills each, while
Payton Graves had four and
Monica White added three kills of her own.
Katie Wiele had 13 digs.
Hays (20-12, 9-8 MIAA) was led by 11 kills from Crystal Whitten. Megan Anderson and Mallory Flagor had nine kills each, while Hannah Wagy had 37 assists.
The first two sets went much the way of Hays, while the last set saw 11 tied scored and four lead changes. Southern had nine team blocks in the match and out dug the Tigers 49-47.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Kearney, Neb., to take on Nebraska-Kearney. First serve with the Lopers is slated for 4 pm.
