Prior to Southern
Powell transfers to Southern after redshirting at Division I University of Texas at El Paso. Before joining UTEP, Powell played two years at Tyler Junior College, where she averaged 14.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, shooting 49.4% from three-point range in her sophomore year. As a freshman, she appeared in all 27 games, ranking second on the team with 12.5 points per game, and finished ninth in the country with 66 made three-pointers, converting 40.5% of her attempts. Powell scored a career-high 31 points against Coastal Bend on March 14, 2021, hitting seven three-pointers, a feat she accomplished three times. In her sophomore year, Powell helped Tyler go 28-8 and win the NJCAA National Championship.

Veonce, the daughter of Tosha Daniels and Veon Powell Sr., is pursuing a degree in Mathematics at Southern.
