Prior to Southern - Horton prepped at Joplin High School where he was a member of the track and cross country teams for former Lion Dustin Dixon... A two time All-Conference performer on the track and was once an All-Conference performer on the course... A three time State qualifier on the track that included being All-State as a senior... A two time State qualifier on the course and was named All-District three times and All-Sectional twice on the track... Was named the most improved runner as a junior by the team... Part of the programs first every Conference Title in school history in cross country and was part of the Eagles team that finished second at the State Meet in track for the highest finish by the team since the 1960's.

Personal - Nick is the son of Andrea and Shawn Horton and is a history major at Southern.
