Competed at the MIAA Outdoor Championships running in the 3000 meter steeplechase finishing with a time of 9:58.99.
Prior to Southern
Deaton prepped at Poplar Bluff High School, where he competed in track and field and cross country for coaches Elizabeth Lewis and Mark Barousse. A four-year letter winner in cross country and a three-year letter winner in track and field, Deaton earned All-Conference honors four times in cross country, winning the conference championship in 2020. He was also a two-time All-State selection in cross country and helped his team win two District Championships. In track and field, Deaton earned All-Conference recognition in multiple events, winning the 1,600m and 3,200m championships in 2021. He was the Missouri Class 5 State Champion in the 3,200m in 2021.
Personal
Deaton, the son of Naomi and Randy Deaton, is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy at Southern.
