Prior to Southern - Avery started for two seasons at Fayetteville High School for the Bulldogs and coach Jessica Phelan ... A 2012 Prepvolleyball.com All-American Avery was a Northwest Arkansas All-Big 7 Team selection, helping the Bulldogs to a a 35-3 record and an Arkansas 7A State Championship ... She was an All-Conference, All-State and All-State Tournament selection after she led her team in kills with 556, and added 301 digs, 44 aces, 31 blocks and finished with a .335 attack average ... As a junior she helped her team to a runner-up finish in the state tournament, as well as the second-straight undefeated conference record ... She had 255 kills, 159 digs and 24 blocks as as a sophomore earning All-Conference honors.
