Biography

2013 - Bartelsmeyer ran in all six races for the Lions as a true freshman...Finished 135th overall at the Central Regional Championship hosted in Sioux Falls, S.D., running the 6k course in a time of 24:20.64...Was the Lions fourth finisher at the MIAA Championships helping the Lions finish fourth as a team as she ran the 6k course in Pittsburg, Kan., in a time of 23:32.29 to finish 41st...Finished 27th at the Jackling Jocks Invite hosted by Missouri S&T running the 5k course in a time of 19:49.62...Was the Lions fifth finsher at the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas running the 5k course in a time of 20:08.10... Ran 19:50.96 in the 5k at the Southern Stampede and 16:40 in the 4k at the season-opening double-dual with Arkansas and Missouri.

Prior to Southern - Bartelsmeyer comes to Southern from Republic High School where she ran cross country and track and field for the Tigers ... A state qualifier in cross country, Bartelsmeyer was also a sectional qualifier in track and field ... A four-sport athlete at Republic, she also lettered on the basketball and volleyball courts ... As a junior, she led her basketball team to a state championship, while helping the track and field team to a sectional title ... as a senior, she helped lead the Tigers to the state championship. 

Personal - The daughter of Eric Bartelsmeyer and Kim Kollmeyer, Kayla plans to major in accounting at Southern ... both of her parents are graduates of MSSU.
