Bilbao Named Lions’ Assistant Soccer Coach

04.20.26

JOPLIN, Mo. - Missouri Southern soccer head coach Elliot Chadderton announced Monday the addition of Aidan Bilbao as assistant coach ahead of the 2026 season.

Bilbao heads to Missouri Southern after serving as a Graduate Assistant with the Truman State University men's soccer program beginning in fall 2024. He supported all aspects of the Bulldogs' on- and off-field operations including player development, training session design, film analysis, scouting, recruiting, and program administration.

Prior to that role, he worked as a student assistant from 2022 to 2024, playing a key role in practice operations, video breakdown, recruiting support, social media, and budgeting, as the Bulldogs earned a berth in the GLVC Conference Tournament.

During his time at Truman, Bilbao worked closely with the head coach to plan and implement structured training sessions with an emphasis on tactical awareness, technical development, and match preparation. He also led film analysis and individual player meetings, providing targeted feedback to enhance performance and soccer IQ.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Bilbao has worked in a variety of player development settings. He served as a camp coach at St. Louis University Men's Soccer Camps, working with youth and high school athletes while introducing prospects to the collegiate recruiting process. He has also worked as a personal trainer with TOCA Football and Evolution Soccer Training, designing individualized programs focused on technical development, strength and conditioning, and confidence-building.

Bilbao has also worked with the Chicago Red Stars, where he served as a Technical Director of Camps and Clinics Intern. In that role, he helped develop curriculum and oversee programming aimed at improving players' physical, technical, tactical, and cognitive development in a positive training environment.

Bilbao was a midfielder on the Truman State men's soccer team from 2020 to 2022. He also served on Truman State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and held multiple leadership roles in campus organizations.

A native of Springfield, Missouri, Bilbao earned his Bachelor's in Exercise Science from Truman State University in 2024, with a concentration in Sport and Recreation Management. He will graduate with his Master of Arts in Leadership in spring 2026.
