VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Missouri Southern earned three All-American honors on the opening day of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Friday, highlighted by a podium finish in the women's weight throw.
Leading the way for the Lions was
Dailynn VanDeren, who placed third in the women's weight throw with a personal-best mark of 20.63 meters to secure First Team All-America honors. VanDeren's throw landed her on the national podium and marked one of the top performances of her career on the biggest stage of the indoor season.
Missouri Southern added two more All-Americans in the event as
Briar Gillum finished seventh with a personal-best throw of 19.19 meters, while
Kirsten Womack placed eighth with a mark of 19.06 meters. Both performances earned Second Team All-America recognition, giving the Lions three All-Americans in the women's weight throw alone.
On the men's side,
Isaiah Waller narrowly missed All-American honors, finishing 10th in the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.98 meters. Teammate
Gabe Ford placed 14th with a throw of 19.43 meters.
In the men's long jump,
Chase Querry recorded a 10th-place finish with a leap of 7.14 meters, just outside the top eight needed to earn All-America status.
The Lions' trio of All-American performances highlights a strong opening day for Missouri Southern at the national championship meet.
