Lions Even Series with 9-3 Win at Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Missouri Southern State University (5-6, 1-1 MIAA) secured a decisive 9-3 victory over Rogers State University (8-3, 1-1 MIAA) on Saturday at the RCB Bank Sports Complex. The Lions powered through with two home runs and 14 hits, maintaining a steady scoring pace throughout the game.

Missouri Southern jumped ahead early against Rogers State with a productive first inning. Will Doherty singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Cy Darnell. Ethan Clark stole home, and Jason Lazo scored on a single by Will Potter, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead after the first.

In the second inning, Jacob Filip singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Brayden Luikart's single brought Filip home, extending Southern's lead to 4-0.

The momentum continued in the third inning as MSSU added another run. Jason Lazo, hit by a pitch, advanced to third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Will Potter, increasing the lead to 5-0.

Blake Jones homered in the fourth inning, and an RBI single by Will Doherty brought in another run, pushing the Lions ahead 7-0.

Rogers State remained scoreless until the sixth inning when they scored three runs, including a two-run homer by N. Gutierrez, cutting Southern's lead to 8-3.

Jacob Filip homered in the seventh inning, adding to MSSU's lead, making it 9-3.

Missouri Southern maintained its lead, and Rogers St. did not score in the final innings. The game concluded with Southern securing a 9-3 victory over Rogers St.
