MANSFIELD, Texas — No. 24-ranked Missouri Southern softball continued its undefeated start to the 2026 season, picking up a pair of wins Sunday to move to 5-0 with victories over St. Edward's and Cameron.
In the opener, the Lions earned a 4-1 win over St. Edward's behind timely hitting and a steady performance in the circle. Missouri Southern jumped out early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Katie Gray and Maddie Rolfs, along with aggressive baserunning that put immediate pressure on the defense. The Lions added an insurance run in the fifth when Emma Mason drove in Ashlyn Hulett, who had reached as a pinch hitter and stole two bases.
Kadence Janney was strong in the circle, pitching 6 1/3 innings while allowing just one earned run on five hits. She struck out three and kept St. Edward's off balance throughout, as the Lions played clean defense with no errors in the game.
Missouri Southern carried that momentum into the nightcap, defeating Cameron 9-3 to close out the weekend. The Lions capitalized on three Cameron errors and recorded 10 hits, building leads in multiple innings. Bailey Dillon led the offensive charge, going 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Gianna Saggese added a two-RBI double, while Taylor Nuckolls chipped in two hits, two runs scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases.
In the circle, Emily Davis started the game, allowing just one earned run over 3 1/3 innings. Kiki Pickens was dominant in relief, throwing 3 2/3 hitless innings while striking out eight to secure the win.
With balanced offense, strong pitching, and aggressive baserunning, the Lions wrapped up the weekend in Mansfield unbeaten and full of momentum heading into their next stretch of games.
