Martin Named MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week

09.08.25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Southern Football student-athlete Tillman Martin was named the MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) Offensive Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Martin, a freshman quarterback, threw for 446 yards to lead the Lions to a 38-31 victory over Southwest Baptist on Sept. 6. He completed 18-for-27 passing with four touchdowns.

The Liberty, Missouri, native, got MSSU on the board with an 81-yard connection to Isaiah Green before a 36-yard touchdown to Nathan Glades.

Martin also scored on the ground, adding a four-yard touchdown to provide the Lions a 21-3 edge. Martin added a 28-yard touchdown to Ayden Robinson-Wayne as MSSU led 28-17 at the half. Martin capped his day with a 32-yard haul to Draper Parker in the third quarter.

Martin's 463 yards of total offense ranks fifth all-time in MSSU history. His five-touchdown outing puts him third all-time for a single game (fifth in MSSU history for passing touchdowns) with the Lions. His 446 passing yards also rank second for a single game at Southern.

The honor is Martin's first of his collegiate career.

Fort Hays State's John Johnson and Taderian Partee were selected as the Defensive and Special Teams Athletes of the Week, respectively.

The Lions are on a bye this week and return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 against Northwest Missouri State University. Kickoff is slated for the John Ware Remembrance Game and MIAA opener.
