Women’s Volleyball Opened Season at the Javelina Volleyball Classic

Kingsville, Texas – Missouri Southern Women's Volleyball opens season at the Javelina Volleyball Classic hosted by Texas A&M University – Kingsville. The Lions would end the weekend with an overall record of 0-4.
 
Game 1:
Missouri Southern (0-1) vs. Minnesota Duluth (1-0)
Set 1: Missouri Southern 25 | Minnesota Duluth 21
Missouri Southern came out strong in the first set, recording a .243 hitting percentage with 15 kills. The Lions capitalized on key scoring runs, and strong serve-receive play, which allowed them to secure the first set 25-21.
 
Set 2: Missouri Southern 15 | Minnesota Duluth 25
Missouri Southern managed just eight kills while hitting .167. Minnesota Duluth adjusted defensively and limited the Lions' attacking options, leading to a 25-15 setback in the second frame.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 12 | Minnesota Duluth 25
The Bulldogs would continue offensive to create a lead over the Lions early. A kill from Alana Meosch would break the rhythm. Minnesota Duluth would answer and take the third set.
 
Set 4: Missouri Southern 11 | SMinnesota Duluth 25
Amelia Neels opened the fourth set with back-to-back kills and Kristyn Loyd would follow with her own kill from Mataiya Barber (3-0). The Bulldogs would answer with a four-point jump, a kill from Taniya Golden halted the run. The Bulldogs found their groove to take the advantage and the match.

Both teams opened the first set battling for the lead. The Storm would snatch the first lead (9-6). The Lions would retaliate for a 6-1 rally to even the score 11-11. The Lions secured their advantage over the Storm and a Mataiya Barber kill would end set one.
 
Set 2: Missouri Southern 28 | Southern Nazarene 30
Neither team would hold a large advantage it in the second set. The Lions would trail and with a late 7-1 rally even the score 23-23: points from Fernanda Merancio, Addysen Alvis, Alana Moesch (four kills) and Kyla Randall. Southern Nazarene would take the second set.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 25 | Southern Nazarene 16
The Lions would take the early lead from a 5-1 rally started from the kill by Krysten Loyd (two kills), and Kyla Randall would add a kill. The Storm would work to close their deficit and trade the lead (12-11). Alana Meosch stepped in to start a four-point jump to take the lead and the set.
 
Set 4: Missouri Southern 26 | Southern Nazarene 28
Trading points throughout the set, neither team would break away. The Lions offense would hit .304, with 20 kills. The Storm would fins the final three points to take the 28-26 set.
 
Set 5: Missouri Southern 10 | Southern Nazarene 15
The Lions registered 10 kills in the set and would work to close their deficit. The Storm would snatch the remaining points for the set.

Set 1: Missouri Southern 25 | Westminster 14
Missouri Southern took control early, capitalizied on a Griffins service error to post a eight point jump (10-2). The Lions secured the first set with a seven-point rally to take a 25-14 victory. Landrey VanOverschelde recorded five kills and Josey Goldberg adding three blocks.
 
Set 2: Missouri Southern 12 | Westminster 25
The Griffins would respond in the second set to take an early lead over the Lions. Westminster would hold the advantage. Late in the second set the Lions would push four points, but the Griffins snatched the remaining point for the set.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 21 | Westminster 25
Both teams came out to trade points. The Lions would grab a two-point lead from an Alana Moesch kill and a Fernanda Merancio kill. Westminster answered for their own five-point rally and would take four of the remaining five points for the third set.
 
Set 4: Missouri Southern 19 | Westminster 25
In the final set, Missouri Southern battled hard to close their gap, but Westminster clinched the match with a 25-19 win. The Lions would see points from Alana Moesch (four kills), Landrey VanOverschelde, Fernanda Merancio (two kills, block), Josey Goldberg (three kills, block), Amelia Neels (kill, block), Addysen Alvis (block), and Krysten Loyd (kill).

Alana Moesch opened the set for the Lions with a kill. The Javelinas found a rally to take the lead and would hold their advantage to take set one. Moesch and Fernanda Merancio managed to put up a combined 10 kills.
 
Set 2: Mi Missouri Southern 22 | Texas A&M – Kingsville 25
The Lions would stay neck-and-neck with the Javelinas early in the second set. Missouri Southern would work in the lead 13-11. Texas A&M-Kingsville surged for a four-point jump, their run was broken by a Josey Goldberg kill. The Javelinas would take the second set.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 17 | Texas A&M – Kingsville 24
The third set was Missouri Southern's best performance of the match. Middle blocker Amelia Neels provided a spark with 10 kills on a .700 hitting percentage, while outside hitter Alana Moesch added seven kills. The Lions pushed Texas A&M-Kingsville to the brink, holding a .300 hitting percentage. Texas A&M – Kingsville would have a last second surge to take the last two points for the third set.
