Volleyball Halted by Nebraska - Kearney

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern women's volleyball team took on the University of Nebraska Kearney Lopers.  The Lions were defeated by the Lopers, 3-0. Moving to an overall record of 2-11 and 0-2 in the MIAA.
 
Game 1: Missouri Southern (2-11; 0-2) vs. Nebraska Kearney (13-0; 2-0)
Set 1: Missouri Southern 18 | Nebraska Kearney 25

Missouri Southern started strong, with Kyra Thomas, Amelia Neels, and Josey Goldberg producing key kills to keep the score tight in the opening stages. The Lopers would find a five-point jump to take the lead (13-7); a kill from Alana Moesch would break the run and push the Lions to their own 5-1 rally (15-12). With points from Thomas, Goldberg and Merancio Fernanda. Nebraska-Kearney would secure a late rally and take the first set.
 
Set 2: Missouri Southern 19 | Nebraska Kearney 25
Missouri Southern looked to bounce back in the second set, taking an early lead with a combination of solid blocking from Anny Montano, Kayla Randall, Josey Goldberg and Kyra Thomas who registered points in key moments (3-3). Both teams would trade points. The Lions would have a three-point jump with kills from Goldberg and back-to-back kills from Addysen Alvis to close the deficit to three points (17-14). The Lopers would hold their lead and take set two.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 20 | Nebraska Kearney 25
A 3-1 lead for the Lions would start the third set, started with a kill from Josey Goldberg and a Kyla Randall ace. The Lopers would answer and trade the lead. Midway through the set Missouri Southern would close the gap to four points with a 4-1 rally (16-14); kills from Kyra Thomas and Addysen Alvis, blocks from Goldberg and Amelia Neels with a Goldberg ace. Nebraska-Kearney held the advantage for the third set.
