Volleyball Corralled by Central Oklahoma

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern women's volleyball team took on the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos. The Lions were defeated by the Bronchos, 3-1. Moving to an overall record of 2-12 and 0-3 in the MIAA.
 
Game 1: Missouri Southern (2-12; 0-3) vs. Central Oklahoma (16-0; 3-0)
Set 1: Missouri Southern 25 | Central Oklahoma 22

Missouri Southern would work from behind to start but would take control of the set early with a 7-1 rally, kills from Anny Montano, Addysen Alvis, Amelia Neels (two), and blocks from Neels and Alana Moesch with an Alvis ace. Central Oklahoma would answer to even the score, but a Moesch kill would break their run. The Lions would hold their advantage over the Bronchos and take set one with a set-closing kill from Kyra Thomas.
 
Set 2: Missouri Southern 17 | Central Oklahoma 25
Central Oklahoma opened the set in the lead. Missouri Southern would see points from Amelia Neels (two kills), Anny Montano (two kills), Kyra Thomas (two blocks and a kill, Alana Moesch (a block and a kill), Addysen Alvis (kill), and Landrey VanOverschelde (kill). The Bronchos would hit their advantage for the second set.
 
Set 3: Missouri Southern 12 | Central Oklahoma 25
Kyra Thomas led the Lions in the third set with three kills. Mid-set, the Lions made a three-point jump to close their deficit to five points (11-6). The Bronchos responded and held their lead to take the third set.
 
Set 4: Missouri Southern 19 | Central Oklahoma 25
Fernanda Merancio started the fourth set with a kill. Both teams opened the fourth set by trading points and evening the score. Central Oklahoma would take a four-point lead (14-10), and the Lions would close the gap to one point with kills from Amelia Neels, Kyra Thomas, and a Landrey VanOverschelde ace (16-15). Central Oklahoma would push a j=point jump and hold their advantage for the fourth set.
