Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern women's soccer team hosted the Northeastern State University Riverhawks on senior day. The Lions fell to the Riverhawks, 3-1 and move to 1-3-2 on the season.
First Half
Bella Smith stood strong for the Lions, stopping all four of the Riverhawks shots on goal. An early red card for Northeastern State left the Riverhawks a player down on the field. In the 39th minute,
Zujeily Romero delivered a precise midfield pass to
Preslee Zeigler, who beat her defender and netted her first collegiate goal. Missouri Southern took a one-goal lead into halftime.
Second Half
The Lions maintained control of the midfield, highlighted by two on-target shots from
Lizeth Almaraz and
Ashten Holloway. Northeastern State would take the lead and hold it for a 3-1 victory.
