06.19.24

Greensboro, N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II Gold Glove Team Wednesday. Earning the award at shortstop was Missouri Southern's Henry Kusiak. He was selected to the program's Central Region All-Defensive Team, making him and the other Region All-Defensive selections eligible for Gold Glove honors.

The senior from Round Lake, Illinois started all 59 games for the Lions this season. During the 2024 campaign, nearly any ball hit toward Kusiak was a sure out. Over the 242 chances he had, only 3 errors were committed for a .988 fielding percentage. He recorded 154 assists, 85 putouts, and helped turn 27 doubles plays.

At the plate, Kusiak hit .397 with 89 hits in 224 at-bats. Of his 89 hits, 20 were doubles, 3 triples, and 15 home runs for a team-high slugging percentage of .714. He drove in 63 runs and scored 78 himself. Additionally, Kusiak walked 44 times and recorded an MSSU single season record 23 HBP on the year for a .527 on base percentage. He broke a total of 10 records this season, seven MSSU career (hits, runs batted in, total bases, at-bats, extra base hits, games played, hit by pitch), two MIAA career (hits, at-bats), and one MSSU single season (hit by pitch). He also tied the MSSU career record for runs scored.

This season, Kusiak has been named an ABCA Second Team All-American, ABCA First Team All-Region, NCBWA Second Team All-Region, D2CCA Second Team All-Region, First Team All-MIAA, and the MIAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He was also an MIAA Gold Glove selection and a two-time MIAA Hitter of the Week.
