Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams were at two last chance meets in Nebraska this weekend, following a busy weekend at the MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend.
On Friday, the team competed in the Concordia Twilight hosted by Concordia University, then the team was at the Loper Twilight on Saturday, hosted by Nebraska-Kearney. Between the two meets, Southern had a total of 29 NCAA qualifying marks and 9 event victories.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be next for the qualifying athletes, taking place May 23-25 at Emporia, Kansas. Qualifying athletes will be announced on Tuesday, May 14. More information regarding the selections can be found

Concordia Twilight (Friday) Meet Results:
100m Hurdles
- Mya Ferguson ran a time of 13.90sec in the prelims, qualifying for the finals with a 2nd place finish. She did not record a time in the finals.
Discus Throw
- Peyton Barton brought home a victory in the event, tossing an NCAA qualifying distance of 55.94m. Cedric Pearson took 4th with a throw of 52.93m.
- Kirsten Womack finished 2nd in the event, throwing an NCAA qualifying distance of 48.75m, ranking fifth in MSSU history. Briar Gillum took 5th with a throw of 44.10m.
Hammer Throw
- Peyton Barton took 1st with an NCAA qualifying throw of 67.66m, just shy of his current program record. Connor Boyd placed 3rd with an NCAA mark of 59.15m.
- Kirsten Womack took 9th in the event, recording a throw of 46.47m.
High Jump
- Luke Brumit took 6th in the event, jumping an NCAA qualifying height of 2.05m.

- Briar Gillum took 2nd with an NCAA qualifying throw of 14.73m.
- Cedric Pearson finished 1st overall, throwing an NCAA mark of 18.03m. Gabe Ford took 3rd with an NCAA mark and personal record throw of 17.80m, placing him fourth on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list.
Triple Jump
- Caleb Manning won the event, jumping an NCAA mark and personal record of 15.23m.

Discus Throw
- Peyton Barton, Gabe Ford, and Cedric Pearson went 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, each tossing NCAA qualifying distances. Their throws went for 56.61m, 55.86m, and 53.45m respectively.
- Kirsten Womack took 2nd in the event, upping her personal record to an NCAA qualifying mark of 50.10m. Briar Gillum finished 5th with an NCAA mark of 46.77m.
Hammer Throw
- Peyton Barton broke his previous record with a toss of 68.14m on Saturday, claiming the event victory.
- Briar Gillum finished 4th with an NCAA qualifying toss of 56.40m, and Kirsten Womack threw an NCAA qualifying distance of 54.27m for 6th place.

- Briar Gillum won the event, tossing an NCAA mark of 14.91m.
- Gabe Ford and Cedric Pearson went back-to-back with 1st and 2nd place finishes, both NCAA qualifying marks. Ford tossed a personal record and third-best in MSSU outdoor history of 18.27m, and Pearson threw a distance of 17.83m.
