Limón Qualifies For NCAA D-II National Championship; Lions Finish 7th At Super Regional

Edmond, Okla. – The Missouri Southern Men's Golf team traveled to Kickingbird Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma to compete in their second consecutive NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Super Regional after qualifying with a win at the MIAA Conference Championship. The Super Regional is a three day event that plays 6,944 yards and has a par of 70. The top five teams and top 10 individuals after day three will advance to compete in the NCAA D-II Championship in Winter Garden, Florida on May 21-25. A strong day three finish gave Luis Limón the opportunity to compete in a one-hole playoff to qualify for the National Championship as an individual and won, making him the first Lion to compete in the National Championship in program history. The Lions finished in a program's best 7th place at the Super Regional.

Day one in Edmond resulted in the Lions shooting a team score of 289 (+9) which placed them in 16th of the 20 competing teams. Dylan Bagley led the Lions on day one with three birdies and three bogies to finish the round with an even par 70 scorecard to tie him for 23rd individually. Luis Limòn and Ben Marckmann both finished the day with a 71 (+1) and tied for 46th individually of the 127 individuals. Tradgon McCrae wrapped up his day with a round of 75 (+5) to tie for 81st. Josh Hamnett rounded out the day one team scoring with a round of 76 (+6) which tied him for 89th going into day two.

The Lions had one of the best day two turnarounds in the entire season, shooting a day two team score low of 273 (-7) and gave them a total score of 562 (+2) which jumped them into 7th place. Luis Limon climbed into the top 20 individually with a round two score of 67 (-3) and tie for 17th with a total score of 139 (-1). Tradgon McCrae shot the lowest score of the entire field in day two with three birdies and an eagle to post a round two score of 65 (-5) and tie with Dylan Bagley for 22nd with a total score of 140 (E). Ben Marckmann posted his second consecutive 72 (+2) in round two to bring his total score to 144 (+4) and tie for 52nd individually. Josh Hamnett had an impressive turnaround with a round two score of 71 (+1) to bring his total score to 147 (+7) which tied him for 81st going into the final day.

It was a competitive final day in Edmond, but as a team the Lions shot a day three score of 233 (-3) and finished in 7th place and missed the qualifying spot by only five strokes. The 7th place finish marks the highest placement at the NCAA Division-II Super Regional in Missouri Southern program history.

Luis Limón finished day three with a team's best round of 67 (-3) and his total score of 206 (-4) tied him for 10th, placing him in a playoff hole to earn the outright 10th individual qualifying spot to go to the National Championship. Limón edged out the competition and won the one-hole playoff to earn the Lions first ever spot in the NCAA Division-II National Championship in program history.

Tradgon McCrae had another great day at the course and shot a third round of 68 (-2) to give him a total score of 208 (-2) and finish tied for 19th individually. 

Dylan Bagley was consistent throughout the Super Regional and shot another even par 70 to bring his total score to 210 (E) and tie for 28th individually.
Ben Marckmann was also consistent all three rounds as he shot his third 72 (+2) to finish with a total score of 216 (+6) and place tied for 60th at the Super Regional.

Josh Hamnett also finished round three with a round of 72 (+2) to bring his total score to 219 (+9) and tie for 80th for the Lions.

Limón will represent the Lions in Winter Garden, Florida on May 21-25 to compete individually at the NCAA Division-II National Championship at Orange County National Golf Center.
