Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams were at two separate meets this week, spanning over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Earlier in the week, the USTFCCCA released their National Ratings that had the men's team at #2 and the women's team at #11. Over the two meet, three day span, the Lions had a school record, 7 event victories, and 22 National qualifying marks. 

Peyton Barton opened things up with the Hammer Throw on Thursday at the John McDonnell Invitational hosted by Arkansas. A chunk of athletes also competed at that meet on Friday, then another group was at Pittsburg State on Saturday for their Tune-Up meet.

The teams are scheduled to compete in Kansas next week, participating in the Ward Haylett Invitational hosted by Kansas State University, and also at Baker University.  

John McDonnell Invitational at Arkansas Meet Results:
100m Hurdles

• Mya Ferguson placed 7th in the race, running the race in 14.25sec.

110m Hurdles

• JaDarius Pigg and Malachi Pipkin both recorded NCAA qualifying times, taking 4th and 10th respectively. Pigg ran the race in 14.00sec and Pipkin recorded a time of 14.25sec.

800m Run

• Miguel Solano took 20th in the race, running a time of 1:53.88. 

1500m Run

• Kyla Weems and Kayanna Gaines placed 24th and 25th, running times of 4:44.50 and 4:44.72. Jayna Gunter took 29th with a time of 4:48.32. 
• Geordan Patrylak upped his personal record to a time of 3:51.32 for 15th place, now ranking eighth on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Jaden Deaton placed 34th with a time of 4:03.38. 

Hammer Throw

• Peyton Barton took 1st in the event, recording an NCAA qualifying throw of 63.91m. That throw was well over two meters further than the rest of the competition. 

High Jump

• Luke Brumit took 2nd in the event, jumping an NCAA qualifying height of 2.07m. Brendan Jewell placed 7th with a jump of 1.97m. 

Long Jump

• Jon Watts placed 2nd at the meet, jumping an NCAA mark of 7.48m. Caleb Manning also recorded an NCAA qualifying mark of 7.43m for 4th place. Peyton McBride and Devin Greene took 9th and 11th, jumping distances of 6.77m and 6.73m. 

Pole Vault

• Bastien Franck took 4th, clearing an NCAA qualifying height of 5.15m. Travis Greenfield finished 9th with a jump of 4.60m.

100m Hurdles

• Claire Cole competed in the finals, taking 6th place with a time of 16.16sec. 

800m Run

• Klarie Brown finished 3rd at the meet, completing the race with a time of 2:21.75. 

1500m Run

• Shelby Kihega placed 14th in the race with a time of 5:05.10. Alanna Bundy and Riley Hawkins took 19th and 20th, running times of 5:12.12 and 5:15.63 respectively. 
• Zaben Barnes took 15th, finishing with a time of 4:13.52. 

5000m Run

• Evan Matlock took 12th in the race, running a time of 16:01.26. 
• Isabella Frost and Hailey Nelson took 5th and 6th respectively, running the race in 18:24.91 and 18:25.62. Zoe Nelson ran a time of 18:46.65 for 9th place. 

Discus

• Briar Gillum took 1st in the event, recording an NCAA qualifying toss of 46.85m. Aubrey Skinner took 7th, throwing a mark of 39.85m. 
• Peyton Barton, Cedric Pearson, and Gabe Ford finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively, each with an NCAA qualifying throw. Barton's throw went for 55.15m, Pearson recorded a toss of 53.86m, and Ford had a throw of 53.71m. Connor Boyd placed 9th with a toss of 47.92m. 

Hammer Throw

• Peyton Barton picked up his second victory in the event in three days, taking first at PSU with an NCAA mark of 63.01m. Gabe Ford placed 10th, recording a toss of 50.33m. 
• Briar Gillum brought home another victory, tossing an NCAA mark of 56.37m. Aubrey Skinner placed 7th with a throw of 42.65m. 

High Jump

• Lillian Hart and Rylee Darnell secured the 7th and 8th spots, recording jumps of 1.58m and 1.53m respectively. 

Javelin

• Adrianne Casey took 1st in the event, throwing an NCAA mark of 48.30m and placing her fifth on the MSSU top-10 list. Mackenzie Mayer also hit an NCAA mark, taking 3rd on the day with a 45.27m throw for seventh on the MSSU top-10 list. 
• Garrett Strange, Brendan Rozier, and Clifton Bridgewater took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively, each recording an NCAA qualifying mark. Strange threw 67.01m, Rozier had a toss of 59.98m, and Bridgewater finished with a throw of 59.22m. Ethan Dias placed 9th with a toss of 52.84m. 

Long Jump

• Claire Cole and Sidney Batten went back-to-back for 15th and 16th place, jumping distances of 4.78m and 4.69m. 

Pole Vault

• Bastien Franck broke Missouri Southern's previous record set in 2006, jumping an NCAA qualifying height of 5.31m. That mark placed him 2nd at the meet behind an unattached individual.
• Emma Hobbs and Alyssa Jerome placed 4th and 5th, both clearing the 3.29m mark, but Hobbs did so on her first attempt. 

Shot Put

• Samariae Bonds won the event, recording an NCAA qualifying throw of 15.05m. Briar Gillum placed 2nd, also finishing with an NCAA qualifying mark of 14.51m. Mona Keita took 4th with a throw of 13.38m. 
• Cedric Pearson placed 1st at the meet, throwing a personal record and NCAA qualifying mark of 18.20m for third on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Gabe Ford took 4th with a throw of 16.54m. 

Triple Jump

• Lillian Hart jumped a distance of 11.14m, good for 7th place at the meet.
