Distance Team Competes at Washington University in St. Louis

St. Louis, Mo. - Missouri Southern had eight members of the track & field teams competing Friday evening at Washington University in St. Louis. They all ran the 5k at the WashU Distance Carnival, split up into various sections. 

Riley Vickrey was the first to finish for Southern, running a personal best time of 17:21.25 for 24th at the meet. That time was good for 8th on the MSSU outdoor top-10 list. Jayna Gunter also made the program's top-10 list, running the race in 17:25.97 and finishing 26th at the meet. Jenari Lopez placed 49th, recording a time of 17:51.73. Kyla Weems ran the race in 17:58.85 for 56th place, and Kayanna Gaines finished 92nd with a time of 18:51.14. 

Jaden Deaton placed 34th on the men's side, recording a time of 14:49.37. The next Lion to finish was Geordan Patrylak, running the race in 14:55.78 for 40th place. Zachary Finley wrapped things up with a 15:12.99 time, placing him 68th in the event. 

The team will also be in action on Saturday, sending a good sized group to the SBU Bearcat Invitational in Bolivar, Missouri.
