Topeka, Kan. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams wrapped up competition at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. Over the three-day meet, the men's team placed 2nd and the women's team placed 5th. In total, Missouri Southern had eight All-MIAA performers, five of those being MIAA Champions, and 24 NCAA qualifying marks were recorded. Additionally, both weight throw records were broken, as well as the men's 4x400m relay record.
Results from the weekend can be found below. The NCAA Division II National Championships will take place on March 8-9, hosted by Pittsburg State.
60m Hurdles
- JaDarius Pigg placed 4th in the event finals, running a time of 7.98sec. Malachi Pipkin placed 9th, running a time of 8.13sec.
- Ashyiria Savage claimed the MIAA Championship in the event, running a personal best time of 8.41, ranking her sixth in NCAA Division II this year. That is the second fastest time in MSSU indoor history.
60m Dash
- Malachi Pipkin was close to his personal best, running the race in 6.89sec which was good for 12th at the meet.
- Ashyiria Savage placed 11th in the event with a personal best time of 7.72sec, good for sixth on the MSSU top-10 indoor list.
400m Dash
800m Run
- Miguel Solano placed 10th in the race, running a time of 1:54.01.
- Lindsey Lopes ran the race in 2:14.93, placing 10th in the event.
Mile Run
3,000m Run
- Jaden Deaton led the Lions with a 6th place finish, running a time of 8:30.84. Geordan Patrylak placed 17th with a time of 8:47.25.
- Riley Vickrey was the MIAA Champion, completing the race in 9:59.35. Kyla Weems ran a time of 10:13.99, good for 7th place on Sunday.
5,000m Run
- Riley Vickrey ran the second best time in MSSU indoor history, finishing the race in 17:12.11. That time is an NCAA qualifying mark and placed her 4th in the event on Saturday. Kyla Weems took 9th in the event, running the race in 18:01.31.

High Jump
- Luke Brumit placed 5th in the event, clearing an NCAA qualifying height of 2.10m. That jump places sixth on the MSSU top-10 indoor list and currently ranks 22nd in all of NCAA Division II.
Long Jump
- Jon Watts won the event with an NCAA qualifying jump of 7.50m, the second best jump in MSSU indoor history and currently the 9th best in NCAA DII this year. Peyton McBride and Caleb Manning also hit NCAA qualifying marks with jumps of 7.27m (5th place) and 7.20m (7th place) respectively. McBride's jump puts him sixth and Manning's mark puts him eighth on the MSSU top-10 indoor list.
- Gabrielle McPherson placed 11th in the event, jumping a distance of 5.35m.
Pole Vault
- Bastien Franck and Travis Greenfield went 7th and 8th in the placements on Sunday, both clearing the 4.82m mark, but Franck did so on his first attempt to earn the higher placement. That height was an NCAA qualifying mark.
- Abby Hobbs and Mackenzie Moring tied for 6th, each clearing the 3.79m mark on their first attempt. Holly Robinson placed 8th after jumping 3.79m on her second attempt, and Katie Candrl took 9th with a jump of 3.64m.
Shot Put
- Cedric Pearson brought home All-MIAA honors with 2nd place finish on Sunday, tossing an NCAA qualifying distance of 17.98m. Gabe Ford narrowly missed the honor, taking 4th with an NCAA qualifying throw of 17.39m.
- Briar Gillum took 2nd place to earn All-MIAA honors, throwing a personal best and NCAA qualifying distance of 14.44m. Kirsten Womack placed 12th with a throw of 12.72m.
Triple Jump
- Taris Jackson was named All-MIAA thanks to his 3rd place finish, jumping an NCAA qualifying distance of 15.12m. Caleb Manning took 4th, jumping an NCAA qualifying mark of 15.02m which ties for eighth on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. Devin Greene placed 8th with a mark of 14.34m.
- Lillian Hart took 11th on Sunday, jumping a distance of 11.07m.
Weight Throw
- Peyton Barton won the event with a throw of 23.13m, setting the MSSU record again this year and shattering the MIAA record. That mark continues to rank at the top of NCAA Division II. Gabe Ford placed 10th at the meet with a distance of 17.93m, good for ninth on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. Connor Boyd threw a mark of 17.56m, placing him 11th on Saturday.
- Mallory Huber took 1st in the event, tossing an MSSU record of 19.61m which ranks third in all of NCAA Division II this year. Briar Gillum placed 6th with an NCAA qualifying mark of 17.98m, good for seventh on the MSSU top-10 indoor list. Kirsten Womack threw a distance of 16.38m, placing 10th in the event on Saturday.
