Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern track & field teams sent a group to K-State on Friday to compete in the Steve Miller Invitational. Additionally,
Peyton Barton competed at the USATF Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Peyton Barton placed 4th at the Indoor National Championships, competing with the best in the country. In the weight throw, his best throw was recorded at 22.79m which is his second best throw, right behind his record-setting performance last week. He placed 4th behind throws of 23.41m, 24.41m, and 26.35m.
The teams will prepare next for the MIAA Championships, taking place February 23-25. Washburn is serving as the host, as the meet will be held in Topeka, KS at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.
60m Hurdles
- Ashyiria Savage placed 2nd in the event, running an NCAA qualifying time of 8.64sec.
60m Dash
- Ashyiria Savage improved her personal best and jumped to 8th on the MSSU top-10 indoor list with a time of 7.78sec, good for 4th at the meet. Gabrielle McPherson placed 7th with a time of 8.22sec.

- Taris Jackson placed 1st out of the two that jumped in the event, recording a distance of 14.77m which is an NCAA qualifying mark.
