Kansas City, Mo. - The Missouri Southern men's basketball team traveled to take on the Rockhurst University Hawks in Kansas City, Mo. The Lions fell behind early and trailed at halftime. Missouri Southern would work to close the deficit but Rockhurst maintained control to secure the win.

The Hawks opened the game with a 7-0 run before
Martin Macenis ended their momentum with a jumper.
Sam Thompson followed with a hook shot at the 16-minute mark to cut the deficit to six points (10-4). By the 10-minute mark, both teams traded baskets, but the Hawks extended their lead.
Tyrone Wright scored three baskets for the Lions, but Rockhurst responded with a 12-0 run.
Jamari Lawrence stopped the streak with a three-pointer, putting the score at 46-22. Late in the half,
Justin Duff hit a three, Macenis added a free throw, and Lawrence sank one from the deep to combine for seven points. The Lions trailed 56-29 at halftime.
Half 2: Missouri Southern 67 | Rockhurst 106
Jaden Taylor opened the second half for the Lions with a jumper (31-58). By the 16-minute mark,
Tyrique Brooks and
Martin Macenis combined for five points, but the Hawks quickly answered with five of their own. Rockhurst's momentum was halted by a
Sam Thompson layup, bringing the score to 70-38.
At the 12-minute mark,
Ibn Loyal sparked the Lions with a steal and emphatic dunk. Midway through the half, the Lions put together 10-points, fueled by layups from Taylor, Loyal, and
Prince Agbaeze, along with a free throw from
Isaiah Atwater, pushing the score to 81-49. With minutes left,
Cooper Francis hit a layup and free throw, but Rockhurst held on for the win.
